Every year nearly 2.5 lakh aspirants appear for admission for UG courses & more than 50000 students appear for admission in PG courses across the country. In 2019, ICAR exam was given by 2,36,931 candidates for UG course admissions, 51,486 for PG course admissions. The ICAR-AU system of India has 74 Agricultural Universities comprising 63 State Agricultural, Veterinary, Horticultural and Fisheries Universities (SAUs), 4 ICAR-DUs, viz. IARI, IVRI, NDRI and CIFE, 3 Central Agricultural Universities (CAU, Imphal, Dr. RPCAU, Pusa and RLB CAU, Jhansi), 4 Central Universities (CUs) having Faculty of Agriculture (BHU, AMU, Visva Bharati and Nagaland University). 25% seats in master’s programmes [100% seats in ICAR-Deemed to be Universities (DUs)] are filled through AIEEA-PG exam. Through AIEEA-PG, 475 ICAR PG Scholarships are also awarded.
